A busy commerce street of Paris has of course a wide range of things to buy, and both in the street and in the area around you will find a wide range of things to match all tastes.  Most importantly simply walk along the road, and also into side streets, to see what there is to see. 

Because the road is located just at the edge of where the Les Halls covered markets where, until their said demise in the 1970s, the road has always been an area with plenty of fresh market ingredients.  But today they are sold from within shops, though the shops do test to spread their wares out onto the pavement and beyond.

Historic

Patisserie Stohrer - The daily pastry for people who live nearby, but also a historic place in Paris the Baker Stohrer.  Established in 1730 by the famed pastry chefs Nicolas Stohrer who had worked for Louis XV, this is where the rum baba was first invented merging French and Polish traditions. Today it is the oldest pastry shop in Paris if not france and is well visited every day by hungry people from all over the city and the world!  Open every day of the week from 7:30 in the morning until 8:30 in the evening it is a veritable Aladdin's cave of delicate pastry treats.  Try the best pain au chocolat you will eve eat in Paris here at 51 rue Montorgueil! website

 

Daily fresh food

There are no shortage of boulangeries, fromageries, �piceries and so on along the street.  But you will also find

Palais du Fruit Montorgueil - For al lthe fresh fruits that you can imagine, from europe and around the world.  Browse the stalls at the front but don't forget to dig into the interior of the shop where the real bulk nuts and dried fruits are kept.  Always busy!  On the corner of rue Marie-Stuart.

Le March� Franprix - A chain grocery store.

Le Pain Quotidien - One of the most highly ranked bakeries in all of Paris, it has locations all around the city but the one on rue Montorgueil is very popular and opens every day of the week from 8am in the morning until 10pm at night. website

Passage du Grand Cef - This early 19th Century covered shopping street was built on the site of the historic H�tel du Grand Cerf, hence the name, and is found at the far end of rue Marie-Stuart. Today it is filled with designer and jewlery shops, but is visited just as much because of it's impressive authentic architecture and original features.  Shop for vintage spectacles , textile jeweler or eat in the cutely named cafe 'Le pas Sage' (which means "not well behaved").  website
